Siren Fest is no more :(

This is a sad day for me.  Siren Fest has been one of my favorite summer days of the year for the past 7 years or so.  A lot of people aren’t the biggest fan of the day, but to me, it was like a holiday.  It was an excuse to go to Coney Island and spend the day drinking 5 dollar 64oz Beers in the street which is always fun, and listen to bands all day in between riding the Cyclone and sleeping on the beach.  Am I sad that it is over?  Not really.  But what makes me upset is that it is moving to The South Street Seaport.   Great area for touristy shit and walking around, yes, but a HORRIBLE locale for an outdoor show.  Firstly, its too small.  Last year they made the catastrophic mistake of trying to have Drake perform there at the height of his popularity and it was a disaster.  Now they are going to attempt to have a show with upwards of 10 acts perform in an area 1/4th the size of Coney Island.  This is not going to work.  They say the event will remain the same, which is even worse.  If you are going to do this, just make it a completely different thing altogether.  Don’t make it the Teen Wolf Too of outdoor concerts.   All this complaining is for naught however, because now I am probably not going.

I’ll miss you Siren Fest.
